2nd Tri-annual LCOC Meeting
17 -18 May, 2013

The 2ND Tri Annual LCOC MEETING OF 2013 will be hosted by the GBR MOAA Chapter in Baton Rouge, LA. on Friday and Saturday, 17 – 18 May. The guest speaker, Saturday night, May 18, 2013, will be Dr. William Jenkins, Interim President and Interim Chancellor, Louisiana State University System.

HOTEL:  Twelve rooms have been reserved at the Lod Cook Hotel, 3848 West Lakeshore Drive, Baton Rouge, LA, 70808  (LSU Campus). A beautiful view of the lake is located across from the hotel entrance. Be sure to bring your camera if  you feel photographically inclined.

RESERVATIONS: Make your room reservations directly with the hotel as soon as possible, but not later than April 17th at 225.578.2665 or Toll Free 866.610.2665. Tell them you are making a reservation under the arrangement with the LCOC/MOAA CHAPTER in order to receive the negotiated rates.

EVENTS: On Friday, May 17 at 6PM we will have a no host dinner (casual) at TJ RIBS – 2324 Acadian Thruway, Baton Rouge. Phone 225.383.7427.

COUNCIL MEETING: The LCOC meeting will be at the Lod Cook Hotel beginning at 9AM in the Marvin Clemons Conference Room on the first floor.  A meeting agenda will be mailed separately.

SPOUSE ACTIVITY: We are planning a visit to the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium and the Louisiana Art and Science Museum and Gift Shop, which is located next to the levee in downtown Baton Rouge, across from the Old State Capitol.   The cost of the trip is $10.00 to cover the cost of admission to the Planetarium, etc. The ladies will meet in the hotel lobby at 9:00 AM. After the museum we will eat lunch at the Tsunami Restaurant in the Shaw Center on Lafayette Street, where we will have a lovely view of the Mississippi River.  Each lady will order from the menu and be responsible for the cost of the lunch.  After lunch, an optional trip is planned to go to the Old State Capitol and Gift Shop.

 The remainder of Saturday afternoon you will be on your own.

CHAPTER DINNER: GBR MOAA CHAPTER will host it’s dinner at Lod Cook Hotel in the Marvin Clemons Conference Room.  Social time begins at 6PM with dinner at 7 PM ( SEE MENU ).

Dr. William Jenkins  will be the dinner/guest speaker.

DIRECTIONS TO Lod Cook Hotel:  From I-10 west (Exit 156A) or I-10/I-12 east (156B)  – getting off on Dalrymple Drive, you are now 1.1 mile from your destination.  Drive south  beside the LSU lake and take a left on West Lakeshore Drive, then drive to the Lod Cook Alumni building across the lake, next to the Jack Andonie Museum building. (There is a statue of a tiger in front). Take a right between the Museum and the Alumni Building; the hotel is located directly behind the Lod Cook Alumni building.

DIRECTIONS TO TJ RIBS: Located at 2324 Acadian Thruway, Baton Rouge (2.6 miles from the hotel). Phone 225-383-7427. From the Lod Cook Hotel turn right on Lakeshore Drive, then left on Stanford. Stanford will intersect with Perkins and become South Acadian Thruway, keep going on Acadian under I -10 overpass on Acadian Thruway East. TJ’s (World’s Best Babyback Ribs) will be almost immediately on your left.
